GEOLOGY MUSEUM BUCHAREST HISTORY
The first such museum appeared in 1864. The Romanian scholar, Gregoriu Stefanescu, at the University of Bucharest founded it. Professor Fuchs from Viena is the first to help the new museum with Klippstein donations. Then more than 1500 minerals came from Sankt Petersburg. In 1906 came into being the Geological Institute of Romania. The institution had the mission to create a proper area for the pieces gathered at the moment. So, King Carol signed a decree and, thus, the Institute allowed visitors to see the rocks and minerals in the museum after 1906. Authorities repaired the building after the massive earthquake in 1977. Other institutions took the collections. There were 86 exhibits only about the geological history of the Romanian territory. Also, about 30 exhibits were about the nature of Earth. And more than 10 were about minerals, also found in Romania.
