HERASTRAU PARK HISTORY

The area where the park lies today was near a small lake bought by a landlord at the end of the 17th century and given to the Cotroceni Monastery. Herastrau Park in Bucharest will become a few years later the inhabitants’ favorite place for long walks and spare time. There are so many trees and interesting flowers and even a Japanese Garden but you can see by far many other awesome plants at the BOTANICAL GARDEN IN BUCHAREST.
All you see today started from the will of another landlord, Alexandru Ipsilanti who built a kind of small refugee for his wife in 1782. During the 19th century Herastrau Park remained a simple place for the people to enjoy nature. It was in 1921…

when the area became National Park Herastrau. Long after the oldest park in Bucharest which is CISMIGIU GARDENS.
