Ioanichie Stratonikeas arrives in the Romanian Country before 1710, after walking through Greece and the Turkish Empire looking for money in order to build Orthodox churches. His name is closely related to the history of Stavropoleos Church in Bucharest, visited by millions of people, Romanians and also foreign tourists every year.
First of all, after his arrival, he built an inn on a land that belonged to a boyar who will be killed by Lord Nicolae Mavrocordat, known as the Greeks Inn.

Stavropoloeos Church in Bucharest will be damaged by earthquakes in 1802 and 1832 but it will be repaired while in 1847 a fire destroyed Stavropoleos Inn. It will be demolished in 1871. The church was a ruin but it was rebuilt according to the initial shape between 1904 and 1921 by the architect Ion Mincu.
A small lapidarium has been hosted in the garden where you can see funeral stones, frescoes or columns brought from demolished churches in Bucharest.
The decoration is dated back to the end of the 18th century when the Greek lord under Turkish command ruled the country.
