UPDATE MARCH 2022 – FOREIGNERS ONLY NEED THE DIGITAL PASSENGER LOCATOR!
UPDATE! Romanian authorities followed the world wide trend in the fight against pandemic and are ready to bring into force new rules. First of all, from December 20, 2021, everyone who enters Romania will have to fill the so-called digital form which will be available at this website: plf.gov.ro. On the other hand, we enter in 2022 with quarantine for foreigners who are coming to Romania and Bucharest from countries with high infection rate and are not vaccinated. The decision was taken on December, 7 and will be in force soon.
To mention that in Romania the 5th wave of pandemic is imminent, according to doctors, since less than half of the inhabitants are vaccinated against covid. In Bucharest, the vaccination rate was, a few days ago, at about 70%. Yet, since the new mutation Omicron is already in Romania, it is a matter of time until it will spread in the Romanian capital too. Also to mention, rules are half respected in Bucharest. It depends where you go and what you do. For instance, in low budget market places, you will see people with no protection mask and so on. In malls, cinemas, restaurants, museums the situation is quite different in the good sense.
This is the situation in Romania on December, 7, 2021, according to the official source of information, the CNCAV. According to this situation, the new rules about quarantine, PCR tests and so on, will come into force in Romania from December 10, 2021 to January 8, 2022. This is the period when foreigners not vaccinated that are coming to Romania might have to stay in quarantine under a few specific conditions. To mention that things might change if the infection rate with the new coronavirus rises.
10 days quarantine for people not vaccinated and who have never caught the virus in the past 180 days, if they show a negative RT-PCR test taken 48 hours before entering the country. Also, if you come from a state outside EU, European economic space or Swiss Conf and you are vaccinated or got rid of disease, but you do NOT show a negative test made in the past 48 hours, you have to stay 10 days in quarantine.
There are also excepted from quarantine drivers who transit Romania, transporting goods, members of sport delegations, pupils or students who are classes in Romania, all under different circumstances – see the entire set of measures HERE.
The new measures are in force from December 10, 2021 to January 8, 2022. Here, on Bucharest-travel.com will keep updated the story. You can also keep in touch with us on Facebook .
