HENRI COANDA OTOPENI AIRPORT BUCHAREST
The Bucharest airport is located 16.5 km North from Bucharest center. With an operational capacities of 39 aircraft per hour, the airport has got a 6.000.000 passengers per year processing capacity. During World War 2 from Otopeni Airport, now Bucharest International Airport, the German Air Army launched the attacks on Bucharest after Romania decided not to fight side by side with the Nazi in 1944. In 1968, great works for the Central Otopeni Airport are done. The airport runway is re-built and it will be longer from now on. There is a direct connection to BUCHAREST NORTH RAILWAY STATION.
The construction of the Otopeni International Airport, now Bucharest International Airport is finished in 1970. The plans for this airport were written down by the architects Cezar Lazarescu, G. Cristea and D. Gheorghiu. In the same year, on February 28, the American cosmonauts Ch. Conrad, Richard Gordon and A. Bean who had recently landed on the Moon with Apollo 12 mission, visit Bucharest. At the Bucharest International Airport used to land in that period only planes. 🙂

INCIDENTS ON BUCHAREST AIRPORT
In 2016, according to the Romanian Police Frontier, 100 passengers coming from Greece via Cluj Napoca Airport, were not controlled at their arrival at Bucharest International Airport due to a possible error of the security system. In 2007, a traffic controller allowed a plane to get on the runway although that was not free. A plane ready to take more than 90 passengers to Sharm-El-Sheik were in danger after the aircraft hit a car on the runway. This was one major incident on Bucharest Airport. Yet the greatest tragedy which took place in the area was the TAROM flight 371, crushed near Balotesti after leaving Bucharest International Airport on 31 March 1995. The plane crashed soon after taking off. 10 crew and 50 passengers died. It was a mechanical failure.

TRAIN FROM HENRI COANDA AIRPORT TO BUCHAREST
Trains run from 5 AM to 22 PM every day from Bucharest Airport to Bucharest City. They connect the airport and Bucharest North Railway Station. Passengers can take the CFR(Romanian Railways) Airport Stop by shuttle buses departing from the Arrivals Terminal. BUS FROM HENRI COANDA AIRPORT TO BUCHAREST
To travel from Henri Coanda Airport to Bucharest center, you need to get in front of the Arrival Terminal and Departure Terminal where the buses stop. The 783 Express line connects the Bucharest International Airport with the center of Bucharest, like UNIRII SQUARE and will take you to the city center, day and night. At night the bus 783 from or to the Bucharest airport leaves every 40 minutes. During the day you will not have to wait more than 30 minutes.
