QUARANTINE FOR FOREIGNERS IN BUCHAREST IN 2022

NEW RULES TO ENTER BUCHAREST UNTIL JANUARY 2022

UPDATE MARCH 2022 – FOREIGNERS ONLY NEED THE DIGITAL PASSENGER LOCATOR!

UPDATE! Romanian authorities followed the world wide trend in the fight against pandemic and are ready to bring into force new rules. First of all, from December 20, 2021, everyone who enters Romania will have to fill the so-called digital form which will be available at this website: plf.gov.ro. On the other hand, we enter in 2022 with quarantine for foreigners who are coming to Romania and Bucharest from countries with high infection rate and are not vaccinated. The decision was taken on December, 7 and will be in force soon.

To mention that in Romania the 5th wave of pandemic is imminent, according to doctors, since less than half of the inhabitants are vaccinated against covid. In Bucharest, the vaccination rate was, a few days ago, at about 70%. Yet, since the new mutation Omicron is already in Romania, it is a matter of time until it will spread in the Romanian capital too. Also to mention, rules are half respected in Bucharest. It depends where you go and what you do. For instance, in low budget market places, you will see people with no protection mask and so on. In malls, cinemas, restaurants, museums the situation is quite different in the good sense.
