THE SCHOOL OF WAR IN BUCHAREST DURING THE GREAT WAR
In August, 1944, the building, like almost the entire Bucharest was a target for the German or Romanian an new allies’ bombs during World War II. The Military Academy was headquarters for the German Army commandment. It is a monumental building, with ground floor and 4 other floors and in the entrance
you can see huge stares and a great hall, with 450 seats.

THE MEMORIAL FOR WAR HEROES IN FRONT OF THE MILITARY ACADEMY IN BUCHAREST
The outside is also astonishing, with natural stone coating, the basis being also made of stone. In 1957, in front of the School of War in Bucharest, the Monument of the Heroes was placed. It is a 9 m high sculptural complex. The memorial for war heroes is made of bronze. An aviator, a Marine and an infantry man are to be seen. The 6 m basis is made of reinforced concrete with red granite. A monument dedicated to heroes can also be seen in CAROL PARK.

A huge square, 154 square meters, surrounds the monument. You will see scenes from the Romanian history, like the battles between Mircea Cel Batran or Stefan cel Mare with the Turks or even the beginning of the Romanian People history in 106 A.D. with the war between Decebal and the Roman Emperor, Traian, whose column copy is at the Romanian National History Museum in the Lapidarium. The only museum dedicated to railways network was destroyed in World War Two, yet you can see some of the exhibits at RAILWAYS BUCHAREST MUSEUM.
