Frederic Storck and Cecilia Cutescu Storck Museum in Bucharest was opened in 1951 for the public to see not only the artists’ masterpieces but also their home. For it is in the house they lived where their works, sculptures and paintings are exhibited.

HISTORY OF STORCK FAMILY AND THE STORCK MUSEUM IN BUCHAREST
Some of them are to be seen even in the garden, behind the building. The house was built by the two artists in 1913. In 1951, Cecilia Storck and her daughters made a donation to the Town Hall of Bucharest. Storck family is famous among the artists in Romania. Karl Storck was a sculptor and the author of the first monumental statue in Bucharest.

THE ARTISTS IN STORCK FAMILY WORKED ALL OVER BUCHAREST
His masterpiece can be seen near Coltea Church and it portrays Mihai Cantacuzino. It is made of Carrara marble. Karl Storck’s son, Carol, was also a sculptor who made the three allegories that can be seen at the Palace of Justice. He also created part of the University pediment, destroyed during the bombardments in World War II. Pieces recovered from ruins
can be seen at Frederic Storck and Cecilia Cutescu Storck Museum. On the other hand, Frederic Storck, Karl’s son made, among other works, one of the giants placed in Carol Park.

Cecilia Cutescu Storck, Frederic’s wife was a painter but also the first female professor in an art academy in Europe. She taught decorative arts at Bucharest School of Fine Arts.
