In 1990 the Romanian state organized a kind of contest to build a statue dedicated to Ion C. Bratianu, a liberal politician who lived from 1821 to 1891. It was made by the French artist Ernest-Henri Dubois who died in 1930. It represents some of the great moments of the Romanian country like Independence from the Turkish Empire in 1877, while the figures you see are the virtues of a great politician: patriotism, eloquence, independence and courage. This piece of architecture had been a symbol for Bucharest until 1948 when it was destroyed. It was built again in 2019 and you can see it in the University Square.
