A NEW CARD FOR BOTH SUBWAY AND SURFACE TRANSPORT

Since December 10, 2017 and recently from August 2021, a unique access card for both underground transport network and buses, tramways and trolleys is being available, RATB and METROREX, the two companies dealing with the public transport in Bucharest, reported. So, both the locals and foreigners can now use the same ticket when taking and changing route by metro in the Romanian capital.

NEW TRANSPORT CARD COST IN BUCHAREST

The new transport card in Bucharest is 5 RON and is available 60 minutes from the first check-in in a bus, trolley, tram or subway. 5 RON is less than 1 Euro. It might be of great help for foreign tourists who decided to visit only few places in Bucharest every day and don’t need to buy transport cards available for one day or a month, not even the new cards for 2, 3 or for persons, also available since October this year but only for subway, as you have already reporter HERE.  All the other season tickets and passes sold by the two companies are available, at least, for the moment.

WHERE TO BUY NEW TRANSPORT TICKETS FROM IN BUCHAREST?

You can buy the new transport card, called Ultralight and which is single use, from all the stations of the Public Transport Network and Subway Transport Company. If you need more trips and those 60 minutes allowed by the new card are not enough for your plans, you can also chose the 10 trips card, 60 minutes each one of them, for 34 RON( about 8 Euros), also available for surface and underground transport, or the one-day pass which is 17 RON( about 4 Euros). This seems to be perfect choice


for a foreign tourist who has one day free to visit Bucharest and need both subway trains and buses.

ATTENTION! The new transport cards are NOT available for special routes, like the one from Bucharest International Airport to the city and back.
