HISTORY OF VICTORIA AVENUE BUCHAREST

We learned that Victoria Avenue in Bucharest had been called in the beginning of this modern city, the Great Street. It was in 1692 and it will soon became known as the Bridge or Mogosoaia Avenue. This street connected the Old Court, during Constantin Brancoveanu reign, on Dambovita River, with the ruler’s castle in Mogosoaia.

This street was the very center of Bucharest and the authorities gave it the name Victoria Avenue after The War for Independence, in 1878, to remain in history as the symbol for the moment when Romania became an independent state.
