ROMANIAN NATIONAL LITERATURE MUSEUM BUCHAREST
Bucharest Literature Museum is on Nicolae Cretulescu Street, No. 8, District 1, Bucharest. It is just near Victoria Avenue and across the White Church. To visit the Literature museum Bucharest and you are at the University Square, you only need to make right on Victoria Avenue. Then keep on walking for about 15 minutes. Make right again when you see the church on the right after the National Art Museum on the left and the statue of King Carol I on the right. You will not see it immediately for it is hidden by the church. See the map at the bottom of the page.

TICKETS AND TIMETABLE AT BUCHAREST LITERATURE MUSEUM
When can you visit Bucharest Literature Museum and how much money do you need? Visiting museums in Bucharest is very cheap and you will only need a few euros for that. Bucharest Literature Museum is closed on Mondays. But, from the beginning of March to the end of October, you can visit it from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M. The last guided tour of the museum starts at 5 P.M. From the beginning of November to the end of February, the timetable looks like this. You can visit Bucharest Literature Museum from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. while the last guided tour starts at 4 P.M.

There are more than 300,000 pieces of original documents, authorities brought from Cretulescu House. It is the old headquarters and where are now exhibited today in 300 collections. Original writings of the greatest Romanian writers. There are unique photos donated to the Literature Museum in Bucharest by different famous collectors. You will find interesting things about the lives and works of the authors.

WHO WAS MIHAI EMINESCU
Mihai Eminescu has been for more than 100 years the Romanian national poet. You can see his works on the first floor of Bucharest Literature Museum. Born in 1850, Mihai Eminescu changed the Romanian Literature as none had done it before. He changed the language of the poetry, linguistics and press articles writhing style. A great nationalist, he wrote one of the most interesting articles, so true nowadays. He also wrote drama and novels.

Emil Cioran, Mircea Eliade, Eugene Ionesco, or Panait Istrati are four of the most interesting Romanian writers known abroad. Especially in France after 1947, when communism became the official political regime in Romania. They were, somehow, forced to leave the country. Bucharest Literature Museum also exhibits original works of foreign writers like Marcel Proust, Paul Valery, Thomas Mann, Papini or Ungaretti.

For great artists, especially painters, you can see the Contemporary Art Collections Museum . It houses, also, a collection about the history of Romania from 1947 to 2007. It has also details about the lives and works of many Romanian known writers.

At Bucharest Literature Museum, there are almost every week events dedicated to the cultural life in the Romanian capital. While visiting, you might find students at classes for a better understanding of the literary phenomenon. There are conferences or authors who launch their new books. There are halls inside the museum just perfect for such events. It is an open space to any cultural events.

We visited the museum on a Sunday afternoon. We had plenty of time to see the photos galleries and the video projections room. Here you can see movies all day long when the museum is open.
