WHAT IS EXACTLY REPTILAND ALIVE REPTILES EXHIBIT?

Reptiland Bucharest is a kind of museum of natural sciences, but more than that. The owners spent a lot of money, passion and energy to, firstly, build the natural homes of the reptiles. They learned about the reptiles natural environment and created it in terrariums. Terrariums at Reptiland Bucharest are glass-fronted cases wherein they copied the conditions of the Amazonian jungle for example in order reptiles to feel like home. That is the reason for this permanent exhibition is more than a zoo, too. Reptiles live here in their home medium in self-sustained terrariums, but they take care of them with high-skills advisors. Teachers and students at dedicated universities in Romania are part of the team at Reptiland and are even guides you will meet and hear when you visit the exhibition.

WHAT TO SEE AT THE LIVE REPTILES EXHIBIT IN BUCHAREST

Just like in o movie, but live, you can see how the water dragon, iguana, snakes and crocodiles live their daily lives in their home environment. But Reptiland is more than that. More than 40 species of reptiles are housed at Reptiland Bucharest. You can see here also miniature ecosystems from the animals homelands and learn more about them. There are 1,000 meters square of different lands, vegetation and even sounds. As you will see below, there is also a small jungle ready to be explored, not to mention the terrarium at the entrance of Reptiland where you can see fish from tropical countries.

Now, meet the parents, pardon me, meet the caymans, that is what I wanted to say! A father-in-law might be a cayman, you know…There are two caymans at Reptiland Bucharest. They eat fish, birds, other reptiles and their home environment is in South America. Their behavior here, in Bucharest, is similar to that in the wilderness. If you wonder why this cayman stands still like he were dead, a guide will tell you that he prepares to attack and he has got patience. Of course, no visitor will touch the caymans, or be attacked by one, but it is interesting to watch them.

There are 10,000 species of reptiles or at least known species in the whole world. A small part of them live at Reptiland Bucharest. Among them is the giant tegu. This impressive reptile lives in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Bolivia. The giant Tegu, or Argentine tegu or the black and white tegu eats anything he can get because they are omnivorous. As you will see below, they are in a great mood at Reptiland Bucharest and they can be kept as pets. Very intelligent, they might damage your house, so always ask specialists before buying such a pet. They need fruit especially in captivity. More about the giant Tegu you will hear from the guides at Reptiland Bucharest.

GUIDES AT REPTILAND BUCHAREST

At the time we post this, since we have just visited Reptiland Bucharest, this exhibition has great reviews on Tripadvisor although it is a new project. While on Goole reviews, Reptiland is highly appreciated. To mention that this exhibit with live reptiles in their own environment is quite new, only 1 year old, younger than few of the animals who found a new home in Bucharest :). What is awesome is the guides are young people who study at Biology and Environment Universities in Bucharest. They, actually, study at work and are passionate about reptiles. And these guides are not only telling you basic information about the cayman, the snake and so on. They tell stories and unkonwn and amusing or strange things about reptiles.

Because they live with them, study them daily and know what to talk about them. At Reptiland Bucharest, the guides answer your questions and they know what to say because they are already scholars.

REPTILAND BUCHAREST EXHIBITION IS EDUCATIONAL CENTER

I had no idea snakes are deaf and that they see spots of light and energy instead of humans. We came to a class about snakes with our 4 years old boy and an well-knowned biologist in Romania tought us a lot of things about these reptiles. Reptiland Bucharest houses such classes where children learn to build terrariums and take their work at home.

They learn everything about snakes.  You can become member of the Reptiland club and learn more about strange habits of snakes, tropical flowers and trees, carnivorous plants and so on.
