THE PALACE OF PARLIAMENT AND THE CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM
The Headquarters of the Contemporary Art Museum in Bucharest is inside the Palace of Parliament, the most visited building in Romania and the most hated building in the communist period. The museum is organized on four floors and, as you will notice, although it is not small at all, it is very, very small when comparing to the rest of the building. House of People or Palace of Parliament is a gigantic structure and was built to be seen from moon by Nicolae Ceausescu, the communist dictator who ended killed by his people during the Revolution in 1989. You can read more about it HERE! Or you can see where and how Ceausescu lived on our post dedicated to CEAUSESCU HOUSE IN BUCHAREST! Since the museum is part of this strategical, military building, the access is similar to the access in airports, so you will have to put your bag it the verification device. The police officer at the gate will guide you, anyway.

TICKETS AND VISITING HOURS
We visited the Contemporary Art Museum in Bucharest on July, 20, 2019, a beautiful Saturday afternoon, of course, until it started to rain and blocked us in the pub at the 4th floor of the museum. We had no problem with that, on the contrary, though the prices for drinks are a little bit spicy. Anyway, after you enter the museum, you’ll have to buy the tickets and after that get to the security access gate. Mondays and Thursdays, the Contemporary Art Museum is closed all year. From April to November, it is open from 12 PM to 8 PM, while from November to April, during winter, it is open from 10 AM to 6 PM. Probably the best way to see the exhibitions here is when you come to visit the House Of People and most foreign tourists do that.

EXHIBITIONS AT CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM BUCHAREST
The Contemporary Art Museum in Bucharest houses a great collection called Seeing the history from 1947 to 2007, which is an exhibition about the communist period, the progress of the Eastern European civilization, about the life of people in this period, including the Romanian Revolution in 1989 and the process of modernization of the country after the communists and the integration in the Euro-Atlantic civilization. Of course, the most important pieces of the collection are the art masterpieces exhibited, but the social, political and economical contexts are also explained on the first floor of the museum. There are also events organized here, like the recent one called The art condition in Russia and Eastern Europe in postmodern society, by an art historian Yunnia Yang from Taiwan. An impressive collection of photos made after masterpieces signed by great artists is also housed by the Museum. We are talking about 3 millions of copies in a digital archive.

SHORT HISTORY OF THE CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM BUCHAREST
Contemporary Art Museum in Bucharest was founded in 2001 and was moved at the Palace of Parliament in 2004. Every spring and autumn, the institution would house events dedicated to contemporary art, new artists and cultural styles. The museum also has more than 30,000 works from 1920 to nowadays, promotes Romanian and international artists and festivals. After our visit inside the museum, we found a few minutes of peace at the pub on the top. We paid for a bottle of water and a bottle of beer 26 RON, which means about 6 Euros. In the OLD CITY the prices are rather the same.
