The Tei Park or Linden Park in Bucharest is a small park, on Colentina River. Yet, it is quite old. They started to build it in 1935. Due to war, authorities stopped the works and finished it in 1950. In the area there were many linden trees and this is the reason it is called Lindens Park and many streets around are called Linden Boulevard, Linden Street and so on. As a local guide, I can tell you that in May and June the smell of the trees is awesome in the area. Which is not far from the A3 Highway if you come to Bucharest by car.
A SECRET OF TEI PARK BUCHAREST
Few people know that Bucharest had a Titanic of its own. It happened on August, 6, 1967. It was after Nicolae Ceausescu became the dictator of Romania. In Tei Park, there were beaches and also a boat who crossed the lake. It took inhabitants from a shore to other. In that day, a storm came all of a sudden. People got scared and made an ambush on the boat which sank in the lake. Some said at least 100 died. Officially, about 25 people lost their lives in the shipwreck.
The boat could only carry 120 people. In the moment of the tragedy there were at least 200.
